Stone Circle Wedding in Whistler, BC | Sarah + Kazmo
Sarah and Kazmo chose the Stone Circle for their intimate wedding in Whistler with their closest friends and family.
The Stone Circle is a beautiful intimate wedding ceremony location in Whistler, with views of Alta Lake and the surrounding forest. Conveniently located just off a trail, but very well hidden - the Stone Circle makes for a great intimate Whistler wedding venue. Perfect for elopements and weddings, the Stone Circle allows up to 40 guests. You are outside amongst nature, but if it rains there is a beautiful wooden cabin a short walk away. The cabin has a light and open feel to it, like you are outdoors still amongst the trees.
I met Sarah and Kazmo at Alta Lake Chalet, to capture some photos of them getting ready. The chalet was pretty large so they wouldn’t see each other! Both Sarah and Kazmo’s moms helped them with finishing touches to their wedding suit and dress. They decided to have a ‘first look’ around the back of the chalet - both of them looked amazing! Their parents watched from the side with huge smiles on their faces.
We drove down to Cheakamus river for some bride and groom portraits before the wedding ceremony - such a beautiful setting for some intimate photographs of the couple. Usually it’s the bride who needs help walking in heels around the river area - but it was Kazmo and his slippy shoes who needed assistance, Sarah was rocking it in her boots! The light was just perfect down there - I just love the photo of them dancing on the rock with sun behind them.
We then drove back to the Chalet for Sarah to put her veil on, and head to the Stone Circle with her Dad. At the wedding venue, all the family gathered around awaiting the start of the ceremony. Sarah looked absolutely beautiful with such a huge smile on her face, as she waited with her Dad around the corner. Sarah’s uncle was the wedding officiant for the ceremony, and really made it an intimate family wedding. Photos of the families were straight after the ceremony, followed by a few shots of Sarah and Kazmo alone at the Stone Circle.
I reached out to Sarah and Kazmo to ask a them a few questions about their day:
What did you love about getting married at the Stone Circle in Whistler?
“We loved being in an intimate circle of our family all the while being surrounded by the beautiful, vast nature. The intimacy of the Stone Circle took the pressure off and made us feel comfortable as we shared our sincerest vows to each other. The scene was absolutely beautiful, one that we will never forget.”
Why did you choose Whistler as your destination wedding?
“I have always wanted to get married on a lake, and we were both looking for a destination that wasn't TOO far for our Californian families to travel. We have always wanted to explore Canada, so after finding a perfect house in Whistler for our wedding week, we knew this was the place!”
Do you have any favourite memories from the day?
“Honestly the entire day was amazing. I was very nervous because all of my communications with our vendors was mainly done via email and short phone calls. The day went seamlessly, from hair and makeup, photography, flowers, the Stone Circle, and the restaurant we chose to host our dinner. We loved our first look photo session with Emily which turned out to be quite the adventure, but so worth capturing all of the beauty Whistler has to offer. I think my all time favourite memory of the day was saying our vows in the Stone Circle surrounded by our family. We thought we wanted our ceremony to be "casual" so there wasn't too much planning involved, but turned out to be the most magical moment.”
Congratulations again to Sarah and Kazmo - it was a pleasure to meet you and capture these special memories for years to come.
